Cane Toads: The Conquest
Mark Lewis | Australia | 84 mins

Combining elements of the disaster movie, science fiction and horror, and recasting the constantly multiplying lead monster - the cane toad - using cutting-edge 3D technology, Mark Lewis traces the devastating migration of these amphibian invaders from the sugar crops of Northern Queensland to the wilderness of the Northern Territory.

Celebrated for such Australian classics as The Natural History of the Chicken and this film's BAFTA-nominated prequel Cane Toads: An Unnatural History, Lewis returns with observational, acerbic force. Exhibiting a finely-tuned eye for Australian kitsch and deep affection for the colourful characters (human and otherwise) he meets along the way, Lewis is an entertaining storyteller tackling the social and environmental impact of these creatures with intelligence, humour and technological prowess.
